The Challenge

The organisation needed a state-of-the-art unified, secure method to handle password sharing on a need-to-know basis, aligning with their strategic requirement for sensible and controlled secret sharing.

The Solution

Passbolt was chosen for its enterprise security architecture based on zero-trust, open-source commitment, and the advantage of being a European company.

Implementation and Key Benefits

Passbolt's integration into the CTIE's operations streamlined the password management process significantly. With hundreds of active users and additional entities utilising Passbolt, the organisation benefits from enhanced password generation and sharing capabilities. The security architecture ensures that secrets are only logically and cryptographically accessible to only those who need them, bolstering security across the board. Moreover passbolt ensures end-to-end encryption by making sure the application cannot be modified.

The high-availability and disaster recovery implementation was straightforward, aided by Passbolt's built-in hosting stack flexibility, letting administrators choose from multiple options when composing their setup, to fit within their existing IT strategy.

The end-user rollout was also performed rapidly thanks to Passbolt’s user-friendly design, which required minimal training—just a hands-on document to guide users. Down the line the open-source aspect of Passbolt has also been particularly advantageous, allowing the CTIE to investigate and resolve support questions more easily by referring to the application source code directly.

The Results

Since adopting Passbolt, the CTIE has been able to better standardise in how passwords are shared and managed. New employees can now gain access to necessary passwords much quicker, significantly improving onboarding processes. Moreover the lifecycle of managed password has been automated. Despite some initial challenges the overall experience has been highly positive. The support and services provided by Passbolt have met all of the CTIE's requirements, contributing to high satisfaction among users.
